Q1: How long can the event be and where can we have the event?
A1: The vast majority of requests for team building are for a half day format. Programs can be lengthened or shortened as well.  I have been amazed at what teams have done in the past with a short time frame and this is certainly manageable as long as there is no physical or safety risk.

Most programs take place in conference centre but can take place just about anywhere. At company parking lots, parks, office buildings, conference centres, golf courses, recreational areas, and more! And with hundreds of games and activities to choose from, you’ll find everything from easy, non-physical activities and games to more physically challenging indoor and outdoor games, activities and lessons.

Q2: What kind of events lend themselves to these games and activities?
A2: First and foremost a conference program where an activity is needed to bring energy and excitement to the agenda.  It can not only reenergise a group take what they have been working with in the sessions to another level of abstraction.  In the case of the Buzzz program teams need to make a full advertising campaign on film and print and truly sell it and this maybe the very thing that they had been covering in their sessions – i.e. product information or sales strategy.

Company/business unit conferences/retreats, Company Picnics, Meetings, Special Events, Parties, Tradeshows, Incentive Travel, Giveaways, Fundraisers, Sales Motivation events, Fun Days, Company Appreciation Days, Annual Events, Educational Seminars, Christmas Parties, and many more!!

Q4: How do we know which program is best for our needs?
A4: The best thing is to call us and discuss what you have in mind.  The major things we listen for are:

  • The major theme of your event
  • What you have done before
  • What your group is like and enjoy doing
  • The schedule of your event and how it flows
  • What you have in mind for evening as well as day time activities
  • Whether you are looking for specific outcomes for the group

For example I saw a client yesterday who has seven delegates in her team and she was adamant in doing a physical outdoor program and wanted to see them work better together.  She wanted something that would be positive and be a memorable fun experience that would contain some real team highlights for her team.  In presenting options to her it was clear that getting dirty and having some real physical challenges intertwined into an adventure was what she was looking for.

We can talk over your interests and propose a program that is specific to your group and your goals.

Q5: How do we set up a teambuilding event?
A5: Give us a call and let us know a few basic things about your company and event - like how many people you might expect to attend, when you’d like to have the event, what you’d like the event to accomplish – and we’ll take it from there. Whether it’s two days in advance or two months or more, we can put events together very quickly. We’re the largest interactive game company in the nation and can put together games, activities and event packages very quickly.

Q6: How many people can participate?
A6: There is virtually no limit to the number of participants we can involve in a program. We conduct our programs in activity teams with from seven to twelve participants in each. Large programs are made up of multiple teams. We provide a facilitator per one or two teams, depending on the program format and activities selected.

Q11: Why use games and activities for teambuilding?
A11: There is a saying that says:

  • I hear and I forget
  • I see and I understand
  • I do and I remember

Three months after a conference event people will rarely remember what was talked about in the sessions but they will remember what they did.  Just ask anyone.

Also they are fun, people don’t get bored, and it gets everyone out of the office in a relaxing environment where they can get better acquainted and learn to feel more comfortable working together.

Q13: What if our people don’t like to participate in group programs?
A13: We believe that it should always be a philosophy of “challenge by choice” but we are also very effective in knowing how to get people involved right from the start. All of our events are finely tuned to be engaging and energetic. We normally have most attendees participating within minutes – actually taking on active roles and having fun. There’s an art to this, and it’s safe to say we have it down. Just one more reason our programs have nearly 100% involvement, always generating terrific post-program feedback.

Q14: How much lead time does Tebu team building need?
A14: We like to be able to respond to any request, and we have conducted programs with a couple days notice. Of course, all programs are subject to resource availability.  In recent years the lead time for events has shortened and we do get requests for one week in advance on occasions.  Most client book at least 1 -2 months out and clients that we have worked with over the years have us booked in 12 months in advance.  Please contact us now and let us know your timeline; we’ll let you know the best way to proceed from there.

A15: Each program cost is determined after we discuss your specific request. We have a set fee schedule that takes into account your choices regarding number of participants, time, location, program type, and staffing preferences.

Programs can cost even less (or more) given your needs and flexibility. We will give a price once we have your brief for the event.  We’ll be happy to quote you a price once we understand your goals and objectives. Give us a call, or fill out a simple proposal request to get a fast quote.

Q17: How many people can participate?
A17: We provide a participant guide to our products on the web site.  There is virtually no limit to the number of participants we can involve in a large number of our programs. We conduct our programs in activity teams with from seven to twelve participants in each. Large programs are made up of multiple teams. We provide a facilitator per one or two teams, depending on the program format and activities selected.

Q18: Where will we do the program?
A18: The client chooses the program location. We can arrange for the program needs with the coordination staff at your chosen location - anywhere in the world if you like. Because of the high frequency by which we use venues we can guide you as to which hotels work best from our perspective.

Q19:What happens if it rains when we have scheduled an outdoor activity?
A19: Many of our programs now are not overly influenced by the outdoor weather conditions as they can also be run indoors.  Should rain be an issue we a particular program do have wet weather alternatives and we are prepared to have alternatives ready if it is a problem.

Fundamentally, if the client is concerned with wet weather they need to provide for alternative indoor space in the event of rain. If you are working with one of our partner meeting locations this is easy to arrange. We take responsibility to modify the program to best meet your objectives if we have to move it indoors.

Q20: How do I get a schedule for our program?
A20: As part of our logistics management we do put together a program schedule so that the client and the venue staff are fully versed with the sequencing of the program.  This needs to signed off by the client prior to the event.

Q21: What is experiential learning and teambuilding?
A21: Experiential Learning is a field of knowledge that focuses on the practices and processes for using direct experience to promote personal and interpersonal understanding and growth. Teambuilding is a field within corporate training and development that promotes the use of effective processes in communication, problem solving and organizational awareness within and across groups in an organization. Some people think of any social event that they provide to their employees as a form of teambuilding. A sense of purpose and design can help make these events useful, but they are not experiential teambuilding just because they involve an activity. Experiential teambuilding combines the technology of experiential learning with the skill sets of corporate teambuilding to provide a highly effective means of internalizing these skills among program participants. The experiential learning process is inherently fun and engaging as well as insightful and educative.

  • Is this the same thing as action learning?

Action learning has grown in popularity as a concept in the past decade due in large part to the phenomenon of The Fifth Discipline. Based on the work of Chris Argyris at Harvard and Peter Senge at MIT, Action Learning has its roots in systems theory and more formal organizational development. It is useful to think of Action Learning as the ongoing process of organizational learning that we can promote and encourage through experiential teambuilding programs. The two approaches are very complimentary and share many of the same principals for promoting effective adult learning.
